Like many coaches, Chris’ life has revolved around sport and fitness. A soccer player through high school, Chris found himself immersed in CrossFit to maintain fitness. After getting hospitalized from rhabdomyolysis, Chris turned to Weightlifting to gain strength back and immersed himself in the sport. He spent a year training under Bob Takano and moved to North Carolina, training under Jon North. Chris moved back to SoCal and co-owned a gym where he founded Southern California Weightlifting Club. As a USAW Level 2 National Coach, Chris has coached 5 National athletes across Youth, Junior, Senior and Masters levels.
Chris’ motivation to develop athletes stems from his experience and personal development from his coaches as a youth athlete. He knows coaches play a crucial role in the development of a child and he prioritizes growing the whole athlete, not just the physical athlete.
